‘A technical update on the future of money’

Gavin is a newly appointed Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Financial Technology at The University of Liverpool. He returns to deliver his fifth talk to H.M.R.C. and H.M. Treasury as part of The University of Liverpool's ‘The Future of…’ seminar series in collaboration with HMRC & HMT.
Gavin will explore technical updates from the previous six months on the future of money including;
- Cryptoassets such as Bitcoin and altcoins
- Advancements in central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) including; the U.S., UK and China
- Developments in corporate currencies such as Facebook's Libra and J.P. Morgan’s ‘JPM Coin’
- The future of money, digital dollars & cashlessness as a response to COVID-19.
Call for Future Speakers
‘The Future of…’ Seminar Series is a new research and knowledge exchange (RKE) initiative between The University of Liverpool, H.M.R.C. & H.M. Treasury.
Talks may also be made available to The Bank of England, politicians and the wider UK Civil Service depending upon capacity. The series is intended to facilitate leading academics from The University of Liverpool to share the impact of their contemporary research with UK policymakers for the betterment of UK strategic decision making.
Series talk topics for consideration might include, but are not limited to; corporate governance, capital markets, supply chain management, modern slavery, finance, accounting, money, taxation, pensions, regulation, economic policy, banking, international business, entrepreneurship, employment studies, diversity in the workplace and political economy.
