Executive Education

The Centre for Sports Business deliver programmes which ensure attendees receive theoretical learning which can be directly transferred to their workplace. Previous customised programmes include:

LMA Diploma in Professional Studies (Football Management)

The Diploma in Professional Studies is a collaboration between the University of Liverpool and the League Managers Association (LMA).   It enhances attendee’s leadership abilities, sharpens strategic thinking, and gives practical insights into modern sports performance management by giving a broad perspective on the many challenges and complexities of the football industry. The programme takes best practice from business and sport and uses it to prepare professional football coaches and players for the realities of football management.  Examples include, dealing with the media, project management and organising finances.

Led by Programme Director Prof Sue Bridgewater, the course brings together an experienced group of Management School lecturers, industry insiders, and guest lectures, such as senior figures from football and business and current, top-flight managers who share their real-life experiences in the game. The programme is specifically tailored to the needs of the LMA and their stakeholders who participate in the selection of applicants.

The course is a closed programme which is joint funded by the League Managers Association, the Premier League, The Football Association and the Professional Footballers’ Association.
