We have an extensive selection of world-leading research equipment and facilities across a range of disciplines. Our resources are open to external organisations as well as internal users, with expert consultation, support, and training or service to ensure you get the most out of your research.

Analysis and analytics

Our facilities provide elemental analysis and crystallographic and structural characterisation of a wide range of samples and scale lengths, all supported by dedicated experts. Techniques cover surface and bulk characterisation. Our analysis expertise also covers dedicated data and computational analysis support.

Bio-Resources

Our Bio-Resources facilities provide expertise in bespoke techniques, novel resources and models to support a wide range of research.

Dynamical processes

Facilitating the understanding of photochemical and photophysical processes, through analysis of induced process in photoactive materials, by laser excitation at very short timescales (femto second) allowing the relaxation and consequences of these processes to be followed. The facility aids development of new photo active materials (Photo Voltaic, Photo Catalysis and electrochemistry).

Electron Microscopy

Our Electron Microscopy facilities offer imaging, elemental analysis and microstructural characterisation of a wide range of sample types across multiple scale ranges (mm to nm). Utilising complementary analysis techniques to facilitate complete characterisation, enables researchers to probe and find answers to their research questions.

Imaging

Our Imaging facilities are a world-class resource for imaging projects, with capabilities spanning biological and materials applications. We offer imaging capabilities across all length scales, (mm to nm) utilising a suite of complementary techniques supported by local staff expertise to find your imaging solution.

Magnetic Imaging

Our Magnetic Imaging facilities include clinical, pre-clinical and NMR capabilities, supporting a wide range of studies from structural and functional MRI for human studies down to molecular insights through high-field NMR. Our team of experts can support all stages of your research, including bespoke method development and data analysis.

Manufacturing and fabrication

Our Nanofabrication facility utilises thermal scanning probe lithography for nanopatterning of thin films and substrates, capable of producing complex 2D and 3D structures at high resolution (10nm).

Multi-Omics

Our Multi-Omics facilities offer full support from experimental design through to sample analysis and data interpretation. Our expert capabilities span genomics, metabolomics and proteomics.

Single-Cell analysis

We have single-cell capabilities spanning multiple technologies, including transcriptomics and proteomics. These can be used individually or combined across facilities to create a pipeline that suits your research needs.

Structural Characterisation

Our Structural Characterisation facilities are available to enable and accelerate advanced structural characterisation of materials across multiple scale lengths for different materials classes and morphologies.
