Alison Ball
Associate Director for Sustainability, Arup
Alison is an Associate Director at Arup, a global consultancy where she leads teams in strategic sustainability projects, with a range of built environment clients.
Her career has included leading responsible business agendas, sustainability consultancy, impact reporting, community engagement programmes, social enterprise start-up and charity governance.
Before joining Arup, Alison was Group Director of Impact at FRC Group, an award-winning social enterprise in Liverpool.
She has also worked in waste management consultancy, for Friends of the Earth UK and the Peak District National Park.
She is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Community Forest Trust, a national charity championing and supporting 13 community forestry organisations in a strong, resilient network, aimed at creating and managing woodlands for the environment for people and wildlife.
Alison was a member of Centrica’s Ignite Social Enterprise Investment Committee, the UK’s first corporate impact investment fund focused on start-up energy businesses with stated environmental and social purpose.
She has also been a trustee for the international charity, Forum for the Future UK charity, which specialises in addressing critical global challenges by catalysing change in key systems, from food to apparel, energy to shipping.
Alison also has an MSc in Environmental Impact Assessment and a BSc in Natural Environmental Science.
