Developing employability skills is a crucial part of the student experience at the Management School.

As the graduate job market becomes increasingly competitive, we know how important it is for our students to feel prepared and confident about what to expect after graduation.

ULMS Extra is a series of regular, timetabled events designed to boost those crucial employability skills, grow professional networks and gain industry insight. Sessions range from practical skills-based workshops to guest speaker sessions with alumni or panel style events with industry partners, like our annual Big 4 Bootcamp.

Last week, we welcomed Chris Rea and Laura Greaves, Senior Information Analysts at Prospects UK who joined us on campus to share up‑to‑date insights into what the UK graduate labour market will look like in 2026, including:

  • What graduates are doing 15 months after completing their degree
  • The most common roles and industries graduates are entering
  • Where in the UK graduates are working
  • How AI is influencing recruitment.

Students had a chance to discuss trends in detail, ask questions and left with a practical knowledge about the job market, and some up to date insights on what employers are really looking for.
