On 17 October 2025, we welcomed representatives from Airbus for an introductory presentation on the Airbus Project Management Challenge, giving students the opportunity to learn more about this prestigious international competition.
Hosted by Dr Matt Mitchell, Director of Studies MSc Project Management, the session introduced students to the scope and objectives of the challenge, which invites participants to develop innovative project management solutions to real-world business problems faced by Airbus.
Students from a range of programmes attended, including MSc Project Management, MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management, MSc Business Analytics and Big Data, and BA Business Management.
Over the coming months, several student teams from the School are expected to take part, working on their proposals before presenting to senior Airbus leaders later this academic year.
The challenge will culminate in a site visit to Airbus’s Broughton factory, offering students a valuable opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals and gain insight into large-scale project management in the aerospace sector.
Dr Mitchell said: “It’s fantastic to see our students interested in engaging with the challenge. It gives them a chance to apply their learning in a professional context, develop their project management and teamwork skills, and build connections with one of the world’s leading aerospace organisations.”
The School has a strong record of success in the Airbus Project Management Challenge, with previous teams performing exceptionally well in national and international stages.
