Jack Coughlin: UK

Consultant within the Risk Advisory service line at Deloitte.

I began my MSc study straight after my International Business with a Year in Industry BA (Hons) degree, which I also studied at the University of Liverpool. I enjoyed the experience I had at ULMS throughout my undergraduate degree so I was more than happy to continue my education here.

I received the ULMS Future Leaders Scholarship to fund my study.

My course in particular appealed to me as it covered such a wide variety of aspects of management. The Careers Advisors were a fantastic help whenever I required any advice and always made themselves very approachable.

Coming from Liverpool myself, I love the city as much as anyone. There's plenty to do and see here and I think it's a fantastic city for students to live in.

My current role primarily involves helping organisations evaluate and address risks related to information technology including applications, systems, networks and infrastructure. My goals for the next few years are to become a chartered accountant and also to progress through the ranks at Deloitte.

I think the overall experience of studying for a Master in Management will be highly beneficial to my career development as I developed skills and knowledge that will prove particularly useful as I strive towards reaching manager grade at my firm.

If anyone is thinking of studying an MSc at the Management School, I'd advise them to research the courses on offer as much as possible so that they can find the one that most aligns with their career aims. I'd also tell them that both the city and university are great places to study at!
