The Centre for Sports Business has set up a new advisory board, which held its first meeting on Monday.

The board consists of Management School academics Prof Geoff Walters and Dr David Cockayne, alongside six members drawn from the sports business industry.

They include Craig Beeston of the Sports Governance Academy; Kelly Davies, global co-founder of Sport for Changemaking; Alex Phillips, general secretary of FIFPRO; and Michele Verroken, founding director of Sporting Integrity.

Former Everton player Gareth Farrelly, now a senior associate at Glaisyers ETL and chief executive of the Union of European Clubs, has also joined the board, along with Drew Crisp, a non-executive director and former senior vice president for digital at Liverpool Football Club.

Speaking after the meeting, Prof Geoff Walters said, "It was a pleasure to welcome our new advisory board members to the University of Liverpool and to the Centre for Sports Business.

"They bring with them a wealth of skills and experience from across the sports industry that is crucial for us in order to support the research, education and partnership elements of our strategy.

"It is critical for us to engage in industry trends and the new colleagues on the advisory board will support us in this aspect."
