Steven Butler

Founder and Managing Director, ARO Scientific Ltd
Since graduating from The University of Liverpool in 2006, Steven has worked in multiple SMEs assisting with the delivery of strategic projects to facilitate innovation, operational efficiencies, growth opportunities and strategic planning. The SMEs he has worked with achieved operational excellence and significant growth in domestic and international markets.
Steven has been responsible for successfully building, transforming and growing an SME to allow stakeholders to divest the business through a sale to a large international organisation.
He founded ARO Scientific, an accredited reference material producer with accredited laboratories serving essential, reliable and high-quality products to analytical customers around the world.
Steven works closely with the Management School at the University of Liverpool engaging with academics and students on research ventures and providing opportunities for students to work on ‘real world’ business projects.
Dr Stephen Finnegan

Consultant and Managing Director, Arete ZC (PNZ Group)
Dr Stephen Finnegan is one of the UK’s leading experts on delivering Net Zero strategies.
He graduated with a Masters degree from the University of Leeds and a PhD from the University of Liverpool.
He has presented his work in the UK House of Commons and published a book on sustainable design.
He has held senior positions with some of the world’s leading consultancies including KPMG, EY and Arup.
During the past 25 years he has designed Net Zero strategies for the likes of KFC, HP, EasyJet, Volkswagen, US Department of Energy, and the UK Government.
He currently works as Managing Director of Arete Zero Carbon and is an Associate Professor of Sustainable Design at the University of Liverpool.
Andrew Kelly

Managing Director - Ground Maintenance, Nurture Group
Andrew graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BSc in Mathematical and Statistical Science in 2004 and an MSc in Operations and Supply Chain Management in 2005. He also has an MBA from The Open University.
Andrew has a proven track record in leading change across both SME and multinational organisations.
Known for driving performance and enabling effective transformation, he combines strong leadership with a practical understanding of how to deliver sustainable organisational change.
In addition to the Nurture Group, he has worked in multiple organisations including Aptuit, King & Fowler, Shell and G4S.
He began his G4S career in 2010 as a Branch Manager becoming Area Operations Director in 2015, Operations Innovation Director (Global Cash Division) in 2019, and Operations Director in 2020, a role that lasted until 2024.
Andrew has worked closely with the Management School for many years providing and supporting a range of opportunities for students to work on practical business, operations and logistics management projects.
