In this year’s first Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship Seminar, Professor David Audretsch, Distinguished Professor at Indiana University, delivered a gripping seminar that explored the genesis of the entrepreneurial ecosystem concept asking why in practice, some thrive while others struggle. In recognising the heterogeneity of ecosystems and significance of ‘place’, drawing upon theory and examples, he argued that people and culture provide the critical difference to ecosystems outcomes and success.
Professor Blackburn, Director BCfE, reflected “David’s marshalling of the literature, engaging delivery and argumentation was exceptional, stimulating thinking and interest amongst attendees.”
Professor Audretsch commented ‘The thoughtful reflections expressed by participants during the seminar suggest a research group that is at the cutting edge of research, teaching and engagement.”
This is the first seminar in the BCfE series for 2025/26. Find out more about future BCfE events, visit:
