Students from Project Management MSc programme have secured 2nd and 3rd place in the Airbus Project Management Challenge, following a visit to the company’s Broughton site.
Working in teams, students presented solutions to a live industry challenge focused on risk management, competing against peers from other universities. Judges praised our teams for their innovative thinking, technical detail and ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
The challenge formed part of a wider programme of engagement with Airbus, designed to give students practical experience of applying project management principles in real-world contexts.
Dr Matt Mitchell, Director of Studies for the Project Management MSc, said:
“Taking part in the Airbus Project Management Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for our students to apply their knowledge in a professional environment. Their success in securing 2nd and 3rd place reflects their hard work, creativity and strong analytical skills.”
As part of the partnership, students also returned to Airbus for a second visit to tour the A350 wing production facility. The visit provided first-hand insight into large-scale manufacturing and complex project environments, bringing key topics such as risk management, supply chain coordination and programme governance to life.
