A group of BSc Finance and Data Analytics and BSc Accounting and Finance students recently attended an exciting industry event, New Blood: No Wrong Path.

Taking place in Kings Palace, London, this event focused on inspiring new talent to a career in financial planning. Hosted by The Lang Cat, the day was packed with interesting activities with important takeaways including:

  • Financial planning session: Industry experts Kate Shaw and Rebecca Tuck from Financial Planning Ltd took to the stage and chose a new client from three fictional options. They then gave the audience a live demonstration of how to build a financial plan from scratch and of a financial planning meeting with the new client.
  • Panel session: Covering career insights and advice for getting a job, best practice and some focused conversation from industry professionals about their businesses and what a typical client profile can look like.
  • Getting the next generation ready: Focusing on an in depth look at the wide range of careers available and how graduates can refine their job search, with industry professionals and recent graduates contributing to this important discussion. A key takeaway from this session was the importance of developing both technical and soft skills to succeed.
  • Networking: Students enjoyed lots of networking opportunities with industry professionals.
