Congratulations to BA Business Management with a Year in Industry student, Alix Billyeald, who has received a staff award for excellent contribution for her work as a Human Resource intern with Leicestershire Police. Alix was nominated by colleagues and senior leadership in her department, reflecting the value our students bring to the professional roles they pursue.

During her placement, Alix worked across a wide range of HR activities, including independently managing recruitment campaigns, coordinating organisational events, supporting workforce planning with senior leaders, and contributing to organisational change initiatives.

At the end of her placement, Alix secured a part-time role as a Recruitment and Development Coordinator with Leicestershire Police, which she balances alongside her final year studies.

Reflecting on her Year in Industry, Alix said:

“This experience has greatly improved my confidence. I have put myself out there more and felt far more secure in myself and more confident in my abilities to succeed. I often link what I am being taught in lectures to situations from my placement, which really helps me understand the relevance of what I’m learning.”

Now back on campus for final year, Alix has been elected as President of Enactus Liverpool. Enactus is a global network of students striving to make social and environmental change. At Enactus Liverpool, current students use business and social enterprise to drive change through their current projects, Breaking Barriers and Project Ruby.

In her role as president, Alix will further develop her leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills- as well leading the team in local and national competitions.

“Balancing university, professional work, and leading the Enactus Liverpool team won’t be easy — but I’m ready for the challenge and eager to keep developing personally and professionally.”

Alix’s success highlights the value of the Year in Industry programme, offering students the chance to develop skills that benefit both students and employers alike.
