With two months into their programmes, our Liverpool and Football Industries MBA students took a break from their studies to complete Accelerator Week. Designed to develop skills and confidence, the week supports students to articulate their value, skills and experiences, boosting their chances of gaining senior leadership roles post-MBA.
Created by Bernadette Lyons, MBA Career Coach, this fun and action packed week included a corporate assessment opportunity at iconic Liverpool venue Aintree Racecourse, home of the world famous Grand National horserace.
The week provided a unique opportunity as Gustavo Rosellini, Football Industries MBA student explains:
It's great as an international student to come to the city and see iconic places. If it weren't for this event, I wouldn’t have visited Aintree Racecourse.
During the day, our students were then tasked with a mock interview and presentation followed by individual, constructive feedback. The aim being to develop confidence in articulating our students value proposition with impact and clarity.
Tanya Nair, Liverpool MBA student commented on the session:
The presentation and interview simulations were fantastic practice sessions along with constructive feedback.
Enhancing networking skills
Opportunities to network with experts, alumni and influential industry leaders is central to the MBA experience. So, we were delighted to welcome Sue Tonks, expert trainer on networking and leadership to host a fun and energetic Masterclass. A networking lunch with Alumni, local businesses and external guests then followed and provided the ideal opportunity for our MBAs to put their new learnings into practice.
The week concluded as we welcomed regular Alumni Keynote speaker, Steve Dodd, Chief Operating Officer of Merseyrail. Steve shared his MBA and leadership journey, focusing on thriving in uncertainty as future leaders.

Interspersed with a LinkedIn session and one to one career coaching conversations, Bernadette Lyons summarised the week:
Our MBAs can now confidently adapt and flex their communication style to fit the occasion, whether an informal networking conversation, connecting on LinkedIn or in a formal presentation and interview.
And we had a lot of fun along the way!
