The Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship (BCfE) held its first Entrepreneurs Monthly Meet-up (EMM) of the new academic year at the University of Liverpool’s Sir Peter Rigby Centre for Enterprise, with a special female-focused edition, in collaboration with the Global Women’s Leadership Summit (GWLS).

Women in entrepreneurship are a growing, vital force for economic growth yet they face barriers such limited access to finance, and bias which can hinder their ability to start, sustain and scale their enterprises.

Under the theme “Visionary Disruptors: Harnessing Entrepreneurship for Wealth Creation, Social Impact and Legacy,” the event brought together over 120 attendees, including summit delegates, students, graduates and local entrepreneurs from across the Liverpool City Region and focused on how different forms of entrepreneurship can support economic independence,  create social impact, and leave a lasting legacy for women of all ages.

The evening featured an inspiring panel discussion with three successful female entrepreneurs and thought leaders from diverse backgrounds: Yasmina Ibragimova, founder and CEO of Yamoratti; Dr Sylvia Forchap-Likambi, founder and global chair of the Global Visionary Women Network (GVWN) and CEO of Voice of Nations CIC; and Dr June Williams, founder of Street Holistics.

Speakers shared their personal journeys and insights on entrepreneurship, authenticity and purpose-led leadership - encouraging attendees to embrace individuality and use enterprise as a tool for empowerment and impact.

Dr Sylvia Forchap-Likambi said:

“It is a privilege to open the Global Women’s Leadership Summit here in Liverpool in partnership with the University of Liverpool and its entrepreneurship centre. This gathering sets an inspiring tone for 3-days of discussion on sustainable entrepreneurship and leadership with purpose.”

Commenting on the event, Richard Leighton, Entrepreneur in Residence for the BCfE, said:

“It was great to run our first Entrepreneurs Monthly Meet-up of the academic year, especially in collaboration with the Global Women’s Leadership Summit. In sharing their journeys, the three female entrepreneurs provided detailed views on entrepreneurship and being entrepreneurial.  I am proud how well the event went especially as it attracted a huge and engaged audience.”

The evening concluded with networking, food and refreshments - continuing the Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship and EMM’s mission to connect, inspire, and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs across the Liverpool City Region.
