Elev8 Business Breakfast on SME Digital Transformation

On Thursday 23 October, our School collaborated with Knowsley Chamber of Commerce for one of our Elev8 breakfast events, held at the North Mersey Business Centre.

The morning began with a presentation from Dr Ali Taghizadegan from the School’s Operations and Supply Chain Management Group. His session, “From Traditional to Digital: Transforming SMEs for a Smarter, More Connected Future” addressed the urgent need for digital upskilling, noting that 23% of UK SMEs still lack basic digital capabilities.

Dr Taghizadegan introduced a practical four-step roadmap - Probe, Plan, Perform, Progress - emphasising that strategic thinking, not just technology, is key to successful digital transformation.

Following this, Kate Dalton, External Engagement Officer, shared how businesses benefit from engaging with student, graduate and academic talent at the Management School, demonstrating the value of collaboration between academia and industry.

The morning concluded with a round of 60-second pitches from local businesses, offering attendees a chance to connect, share ideas and explore new opportunities.
