BA Business Management alumna Katie Bowater, who graduated from University of Liverpool Management School in 2023, has won Merseyside’s Entrepreneur of the Year at Merseyside Women of the Year awards 2025.
Winning this award is recognition of Katies achievements as a young business leader and her commitment to empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs, through The Young Entrepreneurs Club, of which she is the founder. The Entrepreneur of the Year category identifies women who are passionate about business and demonstrate outstanding growth, innovation, equality and diversity within their work.
Katie started her first business when she was 18 and knowing that she wanted to be an entrepreneur, studied BA Business Management as a way to prepare herself for entering the business world. Reflecting on her studies, Katie notes how exploring digital business and marketing allowed her to gain experience in analysing a business- using one of her own as a case study- and in writing successful marketing strategies.
As a recent graduate of the Management School, Katie has stayed connected with our current students, returning to campus in 2024 to deliver a personal branding talk to BA International Management students.
On winning the Entrepreneur of the Year award, Katie had this to say:
“This recognition means the world. Not just to me, but to the 18-year-old who started her first business after some serious sport injuries, knowing that was the end of that chapter. Turns out it was the start of an even better journey, building Young Entrepreneurs Club to help others realise they don’t have to do business (or life) alone.”
