The Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship (BCfE) was delighted to welcome Dr Nisreen Ameen, Senior Lecturer in Digital Marketing, Royal Holloway, University of London to the University of Liverpool Management School on 25 June for the latest in the series of seminars organised by the BCfE.

Nisreen delivered an engaging talk on the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence (AI) for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a particular focus on the new training needs that this technology brings.

Although the literature provides extensive analyses and speculation of the impact and use of AI for SMEs, there remains a serious gap in the learning and training needs to help them realise the full benefits for their business development and growth.

Nisreen shared some recent theories, evidence and thinking on the development of a new training framework for SMEs and emphasised the significance of relevance to different sub-groups and sectors. This stimulated an excellent discussion and debate with the audience.

Commenting on the seminar, Nisreen said "It is important that entrepreneurs appreciate the potential opportunities that AI can provide for their business if it is to help their innovation, survival and growth in a new digital world.

"Our conversations underlined the need to reach the range of entrepreneurs to help combat inequities in helping SMEs realise the potential of AI for their enterprise."
