Through its recent roundtable event, the Management School’s Liverpool Advanced Methods for Big Data Analytics (LAMBDA) Research Centre brought together academic experts, business leaders and AI professionals for a vibrant, forward-thinking discussion on 'AI Confidence: The Leader’s Role in Empowering Teams to Solve Business Challenges.'

The half-day event, held on Friday 13 June, created a stimulating forum to examine how leadership can foster a confident, ethical and effective adoption of artificial intelligence within organisations.

Drawing participants from across academia and industry, the event centred on the transformative power of AI to support problem-solving, innovation and decision-making across a wide range of sectors.

Keynote speakers Aurora Kapo (AI Strategy Manager & HSBC AI Senior Ambassador, HSBC UK), Ajay Sharma (Head HR - International Delivery, APAC and Europe, WNS Global Services), Chris Gray (Director, Actica Consulting), and Sona Loretsyan (CEO and co-founder, A&SL Consulting) shared invaluable perspectives on the organisational strategies and leadership approaches that are enabling AI to deliver meaningful business impact.

The roundtable encouraged lively discussion on the role of strategic leadership in navigating the complexities of AI integration, including governance, workforce readiness and ethical considerations.

The keynote sessions were followed by an engaging segment opening the floor to questions, led by Master’s students Peter Sustad and Julia Andrusiak, which allowed participants to explore key themes in greater depth and connect directly with the speakers.

“The recent roundtable, ‘AI Confidence: The Leader’s Role in Empowering Teams to Solve Business Challenges,’ was a highly successful event that brought together a diverse audience from both academia and industry,” said Professor Abderrahim Taamouti, Director of the LAMBDA Research Centre.

“Faculty members, students, and business leaders engaged in a rich and thought-provoking discussion on the strategic role of leadership in AI adoption.

“The keynote speakers offered valuable insights into how AI is reshaping business practices and enabling innovation across sectors.

“A dynamic roundtable session further encouraged dialogue and active participation, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between universities and the business community.”
