Welcome Week 2019
September hasn’t only been an excuse to grab both umbrellas, and sunglasses, sometimes on the same day (Welcome to the North!) but it also saw the beginning of our new Year One Student Doctors’ journey into Medicine.
Our new cohort were warmly welcomed onto campus with a week full of activities.
On Tuesday, they kicked off the afternoon with a somewhat tricky treasure hunt with the winning team ‘Medic Mania’ scooping some School merchandise after answering 13 of the 15 questions correctly - well done!
We were also joined in the afternoon by some of our amazing Academics and School of Medicine teams showcasing interactive stalls.
As the afternoon turned into evening, our first ever medical Student Society Welcome Event got into full swing with a range of our vast Student Societies showcasing their wares and achievements to entice new members, all to the back drop of live music from Student Doctor band Idle Lies - follow them on Instagram. There was also the obligatory welcome week pizza and refreshments which went down a treat after a long day.
The School was also thrilled with this opportunity to offer our new range of official merchandise. The merchandise offered has been a direct response to student requests – so let us know if there is something you would love to use, or wear, in order to demonstrate your School pride, and we will see what we can do.
We are looking forward to making School merchandise available for purchase throughout the year and will keep you informed as soon as this is available.
The most popular item of the day was the new School Hoodie - even the Dean joined in!
Special thanks to all our amazing returning student doctors in Years 2-5 who turned out in force and made this a proper Liverpool welcome for our new arrivals. We are looking forward to our next get together!
