Student Commendations - February 2019

We want to recognise and celebrate outstanding performance amongst our students, on clinical placements and within the School of Medicine.

We often hear about excellence, and commendation forms are the formal system to record these instances, and just as importantly, to provide positive feedback to hard working individuals and organisations. 

Celebrating this month

Dean of the School of Medicine, Professor Hazel Scott has nominated nine students for their Exemplary Professional Conduct in Aintree Hospital during a major incident: Josh Callon, Georgia Edwards, Eugene Er, Isabel Foster, Dan Marshall, Matt Horne, Alice Talbot, Thomas Hope and Jonathan White. 

Professor J Field nominated both Darcy Fidoe and Sabrina Mason for their significant contribution to the Liverpool Health Lung Project.

Mr Rahul Mohan has nominated Ahmed Adan and Karthik Kinagi  for their demonstration of excellent practical skills.

Nikita Bhoombla and Charlotte King were both nominated by Dr Dan Hawcutt, for excellent research activity.

Jan Howard nominated three students, Peter Eriksen, Sumirat Keshwara and Ben Shipway for their consistent high level of engagement with communication skills.

Also celebrating:

Adesh Ajmani, nominated by Greg Hobson, for arranging and attending a ward round with the Medical Education Pharmacist.

Priyanka Biju, nominated by Dr K J Harrison, for excellent microteach on Pregnancy Induced Hypertension. 

Emily Jin, nominated by Dr Weisang Luo, for outstanding contribution in the ORCHID study. 

Sumirat Keshwara, nominated by Jan Howard, for fantastic microteach in CCT session and being very engaged with communication skills training.

Christopher Khoory, nominated by Dr Bail Moss, for assistance data collection and general enthusiasm.

Emily Krishnan, nominated by Dr Eileen Fantom, for excellent note keeping.

Arran Lundy, nominated by Dr Andrew Porter, for demonstrating communication skills above expectations.

Rebecca Norman, nominated by Dr Helen Pears, for being an excellent SAMP student.

Bhayana Selvarajah, nominated by Chris Mather, for first place in the Surgical End of placement presentations.

Christopher Smith, nominated by Dr Nefissa Abu-El-Hawa, for playing a vital role in the team on ward A9 trauma.

 

Progression Review

We would also like to take the opportunity to acknowledge Michael Horton and Deepika Chawdary, for who it has been noted during progression review have fully engaged with all course requirements.

 

How to nominate

The Commendation Form is for a student to be recognised for activities where they have performed beyond expectations, including clinical skills, research activity, organising activities, helping others, dealing with unexpected events, leadership. 

Visit VITAL to download a Commendation Form, they are stored in the ‘Administration folder’ under each year, for example: MBCHB Year 1 Content 2018/19 > Administration > Student commendation form.

Completed forms should be sent directly to the Student Welfare & Support of Studies Team: wellbeing.mbchb@liverpool.ac.uk.

Forms are then emailed to the student who is being commended, and you can upload this to your E-portfolio under the prizes section. Students who have received a commendation form are also celebrated in The Pulse, the regular School student newsletter.
