Growing the next generation of GPs

Growing the next generation of GPs is imperative. Key to this is medical student understanding of the importance of primary care and what it offers as a career. Liverpool School of Medicine is committed to developing this interest through first-hand student experience of Primary Care.

To ensure that students spend time in GP during each year of their clinical training, we are always looking to expand our base of GP Tutors and Practices. If you would like to make a difference to the numbers of students choosing to be a GP, you can register to host our Student Doctors at your practice. As our many GP tutors will confirm, it is a fun and rewarding experience to see patients through their eyes.

Students are placed in pairs in Years 3, 4 and 5 in four-week placement blocks and you can sign up for as many blocks as you wish during the academic year.

CPD is provided by the School through the annual GP Tutor Conference, GP Tutor Workshop, and a number of other educator focused activities, as well as additional support and materials via our Liverpool Educators Online (LEO) web area (link).

To express interest, or to discuss the requirements in more detail, please contact us at gprecruit@liverpool.ac.uk.
