The Winter break is upon us! As the calendar year draws to a close and you have the chance to rest before the first semester of 2026, I do hope that this academic pause gives an opportunity to reflect on your own personal achievements, as well as the achievements of colleagues.
I have certainly been doing so on behalf of the School. There are so many positive stories about how you, both individually and collectively make a difference to the community around you - this especially hits home for me at this time of year.
As we move into 2026, I am keen that you feel more able to make a difference to the MBChB itself - one of the first steps being the Staff-Student Liaison Committee being Chaired by students. Your elected Chair and Deputy (Samren Reddy and Farhan Rizvon) chaired their first meeting earlier this month and are working with staff to make the student experience as meaningful as possible.
It was a wonderful opportunity to meet many of you achieving your intercalated degrees at Winter Graduation - I want to congratulate all of those who processed at the Philharmonic. It was wonderful to see you beaming with pride surrounded by friends and family.
Wishing you all an enjoyable break and a very Happy New Year!
