Dean's Update | October 2023

This month I am celebrating the connections that are intrinsic to our medical family.

Our connections to the past, through the inspiring examples of our alumni who have gone on to forge superb careers.

Our connections to the future, through the discoveries revealed by research, and the wonderful promise of a new clinical training campus within which to develop new innovative and multi-professional ways of training.

Our connections today, to the medics across the globe whose daily lives reflect the values of the Declaration of Geneva and who dedicate themselves, despite personal risk, to helping those whose health is affected by war, famine, flooding, oppression, or economic crisis.

These values underpin our age-old profession, how we will shape the future and why we provide comfort and care, no matter the global context. In our comparatively protected local world here in Liverpool, we can demonstrate our own dedication to them by the quality of our respect and care for those around us, and by the way in which we reach across our own community and embrace the person beneath the label.
