What is the rate of payment?

We compensate at a rate of £500 per day pro rata.

What is the usual process for claiming compensation?

Setting up your account

Upon booking a place/places as an examiner, you will be prompted via our booking page to provide us with some information.

It is imperative that you send us this information at the time of your booking so we can register you as a casual member of University staff prior to the assessment dates.

Please send the following to osce@liverpool.ac.uk

  • Completed HMRC Checklist (link)
  • Colour copy of identification: Passport/Birth Certificate
  • Existing Uol Staff number, if applicable

And if applicable:

  • Visa or biometric residence permit (BRP)
  • Overseas Bank Details (Please note the overseas bank account provided must be in your name)
  • Reason for no UK bank account

Once we have received your documentation, it will be forwarded to the Payroll team for processing. You will then be emailed by Payroll with information on:

  • How to register for a casual worker computing account and CoreHR portal account
  • How to enter your bank details and equality/diversity into your CoreHR portal

You should receive the email within 4 weeks of your department submitting your information to Payroll, please ensure you check your emails and follow the instructions provided.

Submitting your timesheet

  • Please note: if you are already on our payroll system please do not submit an online timesheet via the CORE HR portal as these payments are processed separately and may cause delays in payment.
  • Once the assessments in which you have worked have concluded, please complete this timesheet (for Examiners only).
  • We will then submit your hours to payroll for processing.

How is payment made?

Payments are made via BACS and are subject to tax and NI deductions.

How long will it take to receive?

Due to assessment demands and internal processing times, it may take up to six weeks to process after submission to Payroll. We appreciate your patience during this busy time.
