Students by the church during a tour of Liverpool

Matching the autumn colours, developing after the earlier heat in September, we are delighted to have the news this week that the University of Liverpool has been awarded a national Teaching Excellent Framework ‘Gold’ award. It is the only university in Liverpool and one of only a couple of Universities in the North of England to receive the award!

I have especially enjoyed meeting our Y1 students at the start of their journey to become a doctor and reflecting on the excitement and commitment that marked the summer graduation of our Y5s and the start of their ongoing lifelong journey as a doctor.

Times for celebration often interweave those of sadness. As we reflect on the recent loss of those within our School and the major global events that have touched our hearts, I am encouraged by the togetherness shown every day in our student hub and the gestures of care that mark our community.

It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to campus, and to be able to enjoy the anticipation of new conferences, social, musical and sporting events, arranged by our many superb societies and on show at this week’s fair. I was amazed at how organised our society office bearer plans were already for 23-24 and, after trying the surgical scousers dexterity tests, I was very glad that I am a Physician! It promises to be a brilliant year and I hope you all enjoy it!
