Sun-kissed Wellbeing Wonderlands this May
Hats off to the School’s Wellbeing Team and student society LivPsych for another brilliant round of Wellbeing Wonderlands giving student doctors a brilliant excuse to take a break from the books this exam season.
Teams came together to organise two Wonderland events on Wednesday afternoons this month, one specifically for Years 1 and 3, and the other for Years 2 and 4.
There was lots of choice in the way of activities – from arts and crafts to giant board games, entertainment from the School’s fantastic performing arts society Artefacts and of course the welcome return of the brilliant Therapy Dogs provided by Therapy Dogs Nationwide. To top it all off, plenty of snacks, refreshments and a very popular ice cream van!
LivPsych’s Jasmine says, “It was lovely to see so many students participating in the wellbeing activities and enjoying some well-deserved snacks and ice-cream!”
Everyone adored the therapy dogs and really enjoyed the chance to take a break from exam revision to de-stress, try some mindful colouring, or enjoy an ice-cream in the sun.
The events were really well attended with upwards of 200 students each session. Wellbeing Academic Jayne Garner says, “The Wellbeing Team were delighted so many students join us for the Wonderland events in Cedar House. It was great to see you taking a break from revision, enjoying the sun, therapy dogs, food, ice cream and craft activities.
Big thanks go to LivPsych for their help and Artefacts for the music.
We would really appreciate your feedback on the event, and any suggestions for future Wellbeing Wonderlands. Thank you!”
Students are invited to provide feedback via a short six-question evaluation survey (link), which will help shape plans for next year.
As we head into assessment season, looking after your mental health is an important priority and there are plenty of resources available to help you do so.
The Wellbeing area of the student intranet includes a Soothe Your Mind guided meditation playlist (link) and lots of resources on the Stay Well page (link) with picks from LivPsych, the Be Free Campaign and more. There’s also a section on Study Skills and Revision Tips (link).
Take a look at the stress-busting tips in this University article (link) and don’t forget you can always reach out to the Wellbeing Team to book a one-to-one appointment via the School Booking System (link).
Wishing you all the best of luck in your exams! Take care!
