Established in 1962, Artefacts - Liverpool School of Medicine Performing Arts Society - has been bringing light and laughter to the School community ever since. When in-person rehearsals resumed at the start of term, Artefacts declared they were, in their own words, back with a vengeance!

This November, they had the chance to showcase the fruits of their labours at their annual variety show at Mountford Hall. After last year’s electrifying online show (link), the stage was set for an even greater performance this time around – and the society did not disappoint.

Artefacts Co-President Student Doctor Lily Jones is currently completing an intercalated MPhil degree in Child Health at the University of Liverpool. Now into her fourth year with the society, she shares what it was like to get out in front of a star-studded audience, which included Dean of the School Professor Hazel Scott, after so long behind a Zoom screen.

"We have had an amazing time leading Artefacts during the first term of this academic year and have particularly enjoyed welcoming talented first and second year students to our Artefacts family during our face-to-face rehearsals.

For the Artefacts veterans who were members pre-pandemic, it’s felt great to be together again, like nothing's changed.

On Sunday 28th November, we had our first live Artefacts performance in two years, with fabulous performances from dance, choir, drama and band. Our 2021 Annual Variety Show was an afternoon showcasing our hard work from semester one to our friends and family. It was lovely to see so many of our wonderful alumni back in Liverpool supporting us too!

We also have some exciting auditions, starting Sunday 5th December, for our production at the end of March. We will be performing The Addams Family the Musical, and after missing out on performing live for the past two years, we are determined to come back to the stage better than ever! Save the dates 31st March - 2nd April to come and support us at our favourite Artefacts event of the year!”
