Peace Doves at Liverpool Cathedral, open until 31 August

Chocolate. The well-known satisfying taste and sensation. The power to transform the ordinary into a special moment - whether of celebration, comfort, or simply a well-earned break.

And there have been lots of special moments recently – the point at which our Year Five students fulfilled the promise of their years of training to be doctors, and took their Declaration of Geneva.

The tremendous response of School staff and our surrounding NHS community, as they cancelled leave and rearranged their work, in order to support the delivery of OSCEs and LivDocSim, countering the impact of ‘COVID isolation’ on others.

The support of 208 Field Hospital to deliver a last-minute revised plan for Altcar leadership training for our Year Three students.

The ‘going the extra mile’ of so many students, as evidenced by commendations.

The success of our Societies, despite the pandemic, thanks to the dedication and imagination of many.

As we near the end of the School year, and prepare to take moments of recharge and reflection over the summer, the format of the year ahead is not yet fully certain. We hope to be more together than before, but we will continue to prepare for all eventualities.

However, as the kindness of each of us can add a chocolate-type moment to those around us and as, together, we have found so many ways this year to transform the ordinary, I am confident that the next academic year will be developing, surprising and very special.
