Doctoral Training Partnership (AHRC) and North West Social Science (ESRC) Funding
As one of the four leading UK universities involved in the North West Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership and the North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership we are keen to hear from talented prospective students willing to compete in the annual ESRC Studentship and AHRC Studentship competitions.
Colleagues within our staff group are prepared to work with high quality applicants to develop their PhD research proposals and applications for submission to these annual competitions. Hodgson Trust PhD Scholarship
The Hodgson Scholarships owe their origin to the Will of Elizabeth Hodgson, widow of the Liverpool Solicitor Joseph Hodgson, who expressed a wish to advance the education and training of lawyers who might work for the benefit of Merseyside. The Trustees wish Hodgson Law Scholars to benefit from education in Liverpool with a view to encouraging the intellectual growth of promising law students and the nurturing of close links with the City of Liverpool and the Liverpool City Region.
The Liverpool Law School's Hodgson Trust PhD Scholarship has closed for 2024 entry. Information on 2025 entry will be provided in due course. Please check back for any updates.
Graduate Teaching Fellow Scheme
The Liverpool Law School's Graduate Teaching Fellowship Scheme has closed for 2024 entry. Information on 2025 entry will be provided in due course. Please check back for any updates.
Other funding opportunities
Other funding opportunities at Liverpool Law School, beyond those offered through the AHRC/ESRC schemes, also exist. Many of these are restricted to applicants from a country or geographical area, while others may have a specific objective in mind.
For example, we have had students funded from a variety of sources including self-funded, government sponsorship, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (split-site PhDs) and via competitive Research Council studentships (see above). The University of Liverpool has several competitive Scholarship opportunities to fund postgraduate PhD research, including the Duncan Norman Scholarship (funding open applications) and the John Lennon Memorial Scholarship (funding students from Merseyside).
