Why study at the Liverpool Law School?

The Liverpool Law School has a prestigious international reputation. We offer both research and teaching excellence to ensure that students on our Law postgraduate taught programmes are guaranteed expertise and professionalism.

Leading experts

As members of the Russell Group, our staff are leading experts in their field, producing research of international excellence. Research feeds into teaching at postgraduate level, keeping students informed of the latest developments.

Developing professionalism

The Liverpool Law School also offers an enthusiastic and energetic environment in which to enjoy the academic study of the law, whilst providing the opportunities to enhance your employability and improve your professional prospects.

You're invited to take advantage of the School’s tremendous variety of extra-curricular activities including workshops, talks, training sessions, career events, internships and pro bono projects.

You'll have the opportunity to develop their professional skills through the activities of the School’s Pro-bono Law Clinic. The Liverpool Law Clinic is operated by the Law School in association with members of the local legal community and enables students to enjoy the professional experience of dispensing legal advice to real clients, under the guidance and supervision of Law School staff and practising members of the profession.

Legal Research Training

The Liverpool Law School offers a 12-week Legal Research Training to all students on LLM programmes as an integral part of LLM teaching at Liverpool. It is a forum for contextualising and enhancing the development of research skills, analytical skills, critical thinking skills and academic writing skills that occur in substantive modules. More explicitly, it provides practical and relevant advice on advanced academic research techniques that will help you engage with your studies more effectively.

Supportive environment

The Liverpool Law School aims to create an environment that supports your academic achievements while also encouraging you to enhance your employment prospects through extra-curricular activities. By the end of the course, you'll feel empowered, engaged and employable.

Career support

Our LLM’s are designed to enhance your academic profile and to ensure that you leave us with highly marketable skills, whatever you decide that market to be.

We organise regular career events and routinely play host to law firms and other organisations who wish to come and meet our students. There is an annual law fair, giving you the opportunity to meet future legal employers. Academic staff in the Law School and Careers and Employability also offer invaluable careers advice and support.

The diverse student body and collaborative opportunities enriched my experience, and the LLM classes were invaluable in helping me develop critical skills. I learned to think independently, form well-rounded opinions and argue various perspectives in a supportive environment.
