Resources and Facilities

As a fully registered student of the University of Liverpool you will still have access to all the academic, social and welfare facilities you would expect at a world class university.

    Study facilities

On-campus, the Language Lounge offers resources such as books and DVDs, and guidance from a member of the teaching staff to help you improve your English and study skills.  They can recommend useful or relevant resources for your specific needs, or you can choose from a selection of graded readers, novels, grammar guides, text books and dictionaries.  The University of Liverpool’s Language Lounge is a unique study facility where students at the ELC can mix with language students from across the university, find a study or social space, or take part in events.

In response to the current situation, the Language Lounge has moved online, offering online Conversation Clubs on a weekly basis for students from all backgrounds to chat in English. You can find information and resources on their website.

As well as access to resources in the Language Lounge, as a student at the English Language Centre you will have full rights to the University’s two libraries, with over 2.5 million study resources.  Wi-Fi is available across campus and in your residences, and laptops are available for loan within the libraries.   With both social and quiet study areas and over 2,000 computers situated across the campus, the University is set up to provide the very best environment for you to achieve academically.

If you are a student of the University of Liverpool, you will be able to access a large number of resources from both libraries online from your computer.

    Sporting facilities

If you want to relax outside of class time, you’ll be able to use the University Sports Centre, with its fully equipped gym, swimming pool and regular exercise classes.  The sports hall is available for team sports or court games, there are squash courts and even a bouldering wall.

The English Language Centre have negotiated prices with Sport Liverpool so that you can join the University Sports Centre for 1, 3 or 6 months at any time of the year.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Sports and Fitness Centre is closed until on-campus study resumes.
