Why did you choose to study at the University of Liverpool?
From the very beginning, I was certain that I wanted to specialise in parametric design, and the University of Liverpool quickly stood out as the ideal choice. With its Architecture programme ranked among the top 100 globally (QS 2025) and its status as a founding member of the prestigious Russell Group, the university is renowned for its academic excellence and world-class research. What truly drew me in, however, was the curriculum, which offered exactly what I was seeking: innovative, future-focused modules in architecture and design. The fact that the degree is internationally recognised further reinforced my decision, giving me confidence that I was investing in a qualification with global relevance and value.
What’s the best thing about studying your programme?
One of the things I appreciate most about my curriculum is the freedom it offers to shape my own journey. It allows me to specialise in areas I’m passionate about, while also encouraging me to explore unfamiliar territories that push me both creatively and intellectually. It’s a programme that truly challenges you to step outside your comfort zone, and in doing so, helps you discover what you're truly capable of.
How do the facilities and/or staff help you with your studies?
The facilities at the University of Liverpool are truly exceptional, from cutting-edge software access and well-equipped workshops to advanced technology labs and an extensive library system. But what stands out most is the freedom it offers to explore and express your own unique architectural identity.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have been mentored by some of the most inspiring professors, who not only support and motivate you but also gently guide you toward becoming the best version of yourself. Together, their mentorship has shaped not only my academic growth but also my confidence, creativity, and vision for the future.
Did you access any of the support services available to you? If so, how did you find the service?
I accessed mental health support, which I found to be highly accessible, stigma-free, and responsive to individual needs. In addition, the university’s provisions for extenuating circumstances and exemption from late penalties reflect a thoughtful and compassionate approach to student wellbeing. The University of Liverpool is deeply committed to supporting students from all backgrounds, ensuring that we have the necessary resources to thrive and succeed.
What has been your highlight of your time at Liverpool so far?
The highlight of my time in Liverpool has truly been the overall experience; it’s been nothing short of exceptional. I’ve fallen in love with the city, especially the warmth and friendliness of the people. One of my favourite places in the city is the Liverpool docks – they have a charm that’s both calming and captivating. I love spending time there, especially watching the sunset, soaking in the serenity while surrounded by others quietly doing the same. Just a short walk away is the iconic Cavern Club on Mathew Street, famously known as the birthplace of The Beatles. With its live music and electric atmosphere, it’s a place where history and creativity come alive. The contrast between the peacefulness of the docks and the vibrant energy of The Cavern perfectly captures what I love about Liverpool: its ability to be both soulful and alive, offering moments of reflection and celebration in equal measure.
Academically, I’ve had an incredible time engaging with my professors, brainstorming, sharing ideas, and learning from their global experiences. They’ve been remarkably open, supportive, and genuinely interested in hearing our perspectives.
Some of the most memorable moments were the study trips with my cohort to Manchester and London, where I had the chance to visit dream offices like Zaha Hadid Architects, Heatherwick Studio, and Foster + Partners, and even step into the legendary Architectural Association School. These visits brought my aspirations to life. What made the experience even more surreal was having the chance to meet and interact with professionals I’ve long followed online. The university creates real opportunities for meaningful, one-on-one conversations with industry leaders, people whose work has inspired me for years, and they’ve been so humble and grounded in responding to our questions.
How do you believe undertaking postgraduate study will help your career prospects?
This journey has been an incredible learning curve for me, one that’s opened up parts of myself I didn’t even know existed. It’s shaped me in profound ways, helping me discover my strengths while also revealing areas I need to grow in. It’s as if a whole new world of possibilities has unfolded, opportunities I hadn’t even imagined before coming here.
Through this experience, I’ve developed a genuine passion for research, started writing academic papers, participated in panel discussions, and was even nominated for the Best Course Representative award. Each of these milestones has boosted my confidence and deepened my belief in myself.
Most importantly, this journey has laid a solid foundation for my future career. It’s equipped me not only with advanced technical skills and knowledge in architecture and design, but also with critical thinking, communication, and leadership abilities. The connections I’ve built, the experiences I’ve had, and the growth I’ve undergone will continue to shape my professional path long after I leave. This experience has been a catalyst, not just for academic success, but for becoming the kind of architect and thinker I aspire to be.
