BA3 Studio 5 recently went on their second field trip this year. On Tuesday 10 March we boarded a coach at 5.00am outside the School of Architecture, taking us up to Edinburgh. Upon arrival we had a look around the Quartermile Development adjacent to the Meadows, and the University of Edinburgh’s George Square. The main purpose of the visit was to visit Edinburgh University’s Futures Institute, which, although much bigger in size, is not dissimilar to our semester two project for an International Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Vienna. We had a brilliant tour by James Nelmes (Director at Bennetts Associates) and his colleagues Hannah Armitage and Karla Duncan. After a short visit to the Bayes Centre, also by Bennetts, we moved on to the Talbot Rice Gallery located in the Old College, before visiting the Museum of Scotland. Some of our party also managed to sample some Haggis before we boarded the coach back to Liverpool where we arrived very tired but happy at 10.30pm.
