Creative Conservation and Living Buildings
The lecture will focus on the work of creative conservation architects in unlocking the potential of historic buildings and allowing them to remain relevant in the 21st century. A review of Insall’s recent work at Grade 1 Rochdale Town Hall will show how analysis of the issues, understanding of significance, and identifying opportunities for change can inform appropriate contemporary design interventions and revitalise an iconic 19th century civic building for the community.
