Liverpool Law School, in an exciting collaboration with Weightmans LLP, will now award two highly-prized summer placements with the firm to undergraduate law students. The first ‘Weightmans LLP Prizes’ will be awarded in June 2014. Weightmans LLP, a leading national law firm, employs over 1300 people with offices across the country. For the third year running the firm has been certified by the CRF Institute as one of Britain's Top Employers. Based upon research into HR practices and employee offerings, Weightmans was ranked the 5th highest scorer in the country. The firm has an impressive reputation in the Insurance and Public Sector markets and offers a substantial and diverse range of commercial services for public sector bodies, large institutions, owner-managed businesses, and PLCs.

The successful placement prize winners will be selected on the basis of highest module grade in Financial Services Law and Tort Law respectively, ensuring that Second Year and Final Year undergraduate students will have an opportunity to obtain a paid summer placement with the firm.

Gerard Kelly, Financial Services Law Module Coordinator, welcomed the placement programme adding, ‘This initiative will promote enhanced collaboration with practitioners and allow students to develop their professional skills and career ambitions’. Denise Wright, Learning & Development Trainer with Weightmans LLP, Liverpool commented: “The first ‘Weightmans LLP Prizes’ will be awarded in June and will provide an annual placement opportunity for Liverpool Law School students. We are thrilled to strengthen our relationship with the University of Liverpool and its students further.

During the two week paid placement the participants will gain invaluable experience from working within at least two Practice Areas and taking part in training programmes. Also, as part of our annual graduate recruitment, all participants will have the opportunity to be considered for a training contract for 2016.” Each year there is also an open application for the firm’s placement scheme which is now closed for 2014, but will open again at the end of the year for 2015 placements. The firm’s trainee application process for 2016 is also now open and further details are available at the firm’s website at: http://www.weightmans.com/working_for_us.aspx
