The University of Liverpool School of Law and Social Justice is proud to announce the launch of the MusicFutures IP Clinic and Lab.
This initiative represents a major collaboration between the University of Liverpool, the Intellectual Property Office UK and the Liverpool Law Clinic. It forms part of MusicFutures, co-led by Dr Sabine Jacques, a specialist in Intellectual Property Law at the School of Law and Social Justice.
For students at the University of Liverpool, this project offers a prestigious opportunity to work at the intersection of law and the creative arts. Student volunteers will work alongside legal professionals to provide free advice to music creators and innovators across the Liverpool City Region.
This clinical opportunity allows our students to step outside the classroom and support music makers including musicians, songwriters and producers. Students will gain hands on experience assisting with:
- Intellectual property rights and protection strategies
- Artistic livelihoods and navigating industry contracts
- Responding to claims on video sharing platforms
- Understanding metadata and the digital music economy
The Clinic supports micro-businesses, startups or entrepreneurs innovating with music from initial inspiration to launching, growing and capturing value through the right IP strategy.
If you're a music maker or run a music-related business in the Liverpool City Region and would like to request a free initial legal consultation, please complete the MusicFutures' IP Clinic and Lab contact form.
