The University of Liverpool Law School is proud to announce that Law has been ranked among the world’s best in the 2025 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS). This year, Law is placed 46th globally and 6th in the UK.
This achievement reflects the quality and global reach of the School’s research following steady progress in recent years. Law moved from 101–150 in 2023 to 51–75 in 2024, and now sits inside the top 50.
Published by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, the GRAS is recognised as one of the most comprehensive and objective assessments of universities by subject globally. Rankings are based on metrics including research output, research influence, international collaboration, research quality and international academic awards.
These outstanding results underscore the Liverpool Law School’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality education and delivering research that has a global impact.
Professor Valsamis Mitsilegas, Dean of the School of Law and Social Justice at the University of Liverpool, said: “This recognition reflects the world-class research produced across the Law School and the strength of our international profile. It demonstrates the influence of our work and our commitment to advancing scholarship that informs debate and addresses global challenges.”
