The University of Liverpool Law School is celebrating the continued growth of its LLM programmes for the 2025–26 academic year. This is the largest ever LLM cohort. Students from 24 countries across four continents have joined its expanding postgraduate community, reflecting the School's growing international reach and reputation for excellence.

Following the successful introduction of the International Business and Commercial Law LLM in September 2024, the School has also extended its international presence with the International Business Law LLM in Bahrain. Taught by University of Liverpool academics in collaboration with the Royal University for Women, the Bahrain programme brings cutting-edge research, knowledge and industry expertise from Liverpool to Bahrain, allowing students to benefit from the same high-quality teaching and international perspective as UK-based programmes.

September 2025 marked the launch of the International Intellectual Property Law LLM. Designed in response to the growing importance of intellectual property, innovation and technology law in today’s global economy, the programme is supported by the University’s partnerships with the EU Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office, providing students with access to professional traineeships and specialised IP resources. Five full scholarships were also awarded to students on this programme.

The School’s increasing reach in terms of employability and skills for its postgraduate taught students has been further strengthened by its partnership with Yingke Law Firm, the world’s largest legal practice. This collaboration provides students with global internship opportunities, joint conferences and specialist training programmes, connecting Liverpool Law School to Yingke’s extensive international network.

Dr Ben Murphy, Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes in Law, commented: “I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to our new LLM students. I look forward to working with such a diverse and talented group of students, and I am excited to support you on the next stage of your academic journey. I would strongly encourage you to take advantage of the wide range of extra-curricular opportunities uniquely available to Liverpool Law School students to prepare you for your future careers."

Professor Valsamis Mitsilegas, Dean of the School of Law and Social Justice, added: “Innovation and growth in our postgraduate programmes have attracted record numbers of talented students from around the world. The success of our recent programme launches and international collaborations demonstrates the excellence in our cutting-edge PGT provision and the Liverpool Law School’s commitment to preparing graduates for international careers in law.”

With its expanding postgraduate community, diverse programme offerings and international collaborations, Liverpool Law School continues to strengthen its position as a leading destination for advanced legal study.
