A chapter by Professor Valsamis Mitsilegas, Dean of the University of Liverpool’s School of Law and Social Justice, has been translated into Chinese and included in the third edition of Comparative Studies of Criminal Law (2025). This prominent academic series on criminal justice is published by China Renmin University Press, one of China’s foremost legal publishing houses.
The chapter, originally titled ‘Conceptualising Impunity in the Law of the European Union’ and published in The Fight Against Impunity in EU Law (Hart Publishing, 2020), has been translated by Tianming Long under the title ‘Impunity in EU Law: A Conceptual Appraisal’.
China Renmin University is recognised as one of China’s leading institutions for legal research and education. The translation of Professor Mitsilegas’ work reflects the growing international impact of research from the School of Law and Social Justice and its ongoing engagement with global academic networks.
The publication coincides with an expansion of institutional links between the University of Liverpool and partners in China. Among these is Yingke Law Firm, one of the largest law firms in the Asia-Pacific region, with over 120 offices across mainland China and an international presence in nearly 200 cities worldwide.
As part of this collaboration, Yingke Law Firm is offering internship opportunities to University of Liverpool LLM graduates at their headquarters in Beijing. These internships provide invaluable international experience, supporting the School’s commitment to equipping students for successful global legal careers.
