Law with a Year in Industry
After two successful years, the Law with a Year in Industry programme will continue into its third year in partnership with prestigious law firms and legal organisations across Liverpool, offering you an unparalleled opportunity to develop valuable professional work experience while pursuing your studies.
About the programme
During the third year of your four-year degree, you will spend a year in industry, working at a busy and high-profile law firm or legal organisation in the city of Liverpool. This immersive experience allows you to engage with complex legal work at a practical level, liaise with fee earners and client and get a valuable and rewarding insight into legal practice.
This course is designed to provide a modern legal education that addresses the needs and concerns of society in the 21st century. Whether you are considering a career in law or another field, this course will challenge and inspire you. The placement, which lasts a minimum of 40 weeks, is a full-time paid opportunity, and our partner law firms and legal organisations adhere to National Living Wage standards.
This exciting opportunity is initially open to applications from current University of Liverpool second-year Law students studying LLB Law or a minimum of 75% Law as part of your combined degree. If successful, your current course will be extended by one year, during which you will undertake a placement at one of our partner law firms or legal organisations. Upon completion of the course and finishing your final year of study, you will graduate with an LLB Law with a Year in Industry (Hons).
Please note that Law with a Year in Industry is not open to external applicants, and you cannot apply for a place via UCAS. Therefore, if you are a prospective student interested in enrolling in Law with a Year in Industry, you do not need to select it prior to admission.
Please be aware that the number of placements available is very limited. Students from under-represented backgrounds, or those who believe they would face barriers when entering the world of work, are strongly encouraged to apply.
