Akeley Church: The Search for William Smithe, M.P.

 

In October 2020, the project received an email from John Norman with an interesting case study concerning the possible reburial of the high-profile 17th-century politician, Sir William Smithe MP, in the North Buckinghamshire area. John, who spends his time researching local history, had taken particular interest in Akeley village, once home to a parish church known as the church of St. James, where Smithe had been buried.
