Fieldwork is not a requirement of 25% Archaeology or 25% Egyptology

Fieldwork is not a requirement of 25% Archaeology or 25% Egyptology, and is also not a requirement for Combined Honours students. However, the Department would like interested students to have the opportunity to take part. If you wish to be considered for a placement please contact our HLC Fieldwork Officer – Jane Stockley (stocko@liv.ac.uk).

The Year 1 fieldwork will from 2017-18 take place at a site within minibus commute of campus, and will take place in the time when examinations are being marked, thus not extending into the vacation. This is a significant change from the previous system and allows us to widen the opportunities for participation. In due course, a new web page about the fieldwork opportunity will be linked from this page

Statement on Inclusivity

Archaeological fieldwork can be physically demanding, and requires an ability to undertake certain tasks (such as walking, carrying/using tools and equipment). At Liverpool, our Disability Support Team is committed to supporting students and considering barriers to participation. On student request, we discuss reasonable adjustments to enable participation for disabled students, and can provide alternative (non-field) options as appropriate, some closely associated with the local fieldwork. Please contact Harold Mytum, our Director of Fieldwork, for further information (hmytum@liverpool.ac.uk).

We abide by the Higher Education Academy’s good practice guidelines for inclusive fieldwork training.
