Welcome to Physics

Welcome from the Head of Department

On behalf of the Department of Physics I am delighted to welcome you as a new student. The department is a community of scholars working across all areas of Physics, and we are sure you will benefit from the breadth and vitality that is possible in a department of this size, with world-class teaching and in-depth specialist expertise available to you.

You can find out how to register on the University’s central welcome webpages. There is a lot of additional information on our website. Please do not worry if it seems a lot to take in. We will work hard during Welcome Week and in the first semester to make your transition to university study as smooth as possible.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to the department in September.

Prof Carsten Welsch
