Basic Scientific Research: Experimental or theoretical research undertaken to acquire new knowledge of the fundamental principles of phenomena or observable facts. It is not research towards a specific practical aim or objective. In practical terms, research can be considered basic scientific research if it is classed as low Technology Readiness Level (TRL), it has no links to industry and there is no collaborator involved which is imposing any conditions on publishing the results for the research.
Controlled/Coded: Items specifically listed on the UK Strategic Export Control List that require export authorisation.
Dual-use: Items that are designed for civilian uses but have the capability to be used for WMD / military purposes.
End-use control:

If there are reasonable grounds to believe un-coded items may be intended for weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and/or military purposes in an embargoed country.

This is most applicable to new technologies which may not yet be on the export control list. 

Entity: Another organisation, university, institution, business, company, funder, government department amongst others that you collaborate, work or interact with.
Export: Physical or intangible movement of items out of the UK territory. This includes transportation of items overseas such as via carriage of data on a laptop or other electronic storage device. It also includes transfer and/or access of information by facsimile, email, telephone, text message, video-conferencing, clouds, servers or any other means of electronic transfer.
Items: Physical goods, software or technology listed on the UK Strategic Export Control List.
Key Country: A country subject to sanctions, arms embargoes or other restrictions. See UK government list here

Public Domain: Information which has previously been published and is freely accessible. Intention to publish does not put Information in the public domain, controls can apply prior to publication.
Technology (Information):

Specific information necessary for the development, production or use of goods or software. This includes, but is not limited to, blueprints, plans, diagrams, models, formulae, tables, engineering designs and specifications, manuals and instructions or research data. These could be written, held on databases, videos or other media devices amongst other formats.

Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD): Chemical, biological or nuclear weapons, other nuclear explosive devices and the missiles/missile systems that are the means of delivery of WMD.
