The University has a wide range of functions as an organisation; ranging from research and education, legal services and human resources. Almost all of its functions require the University to use data about living individuals in order to deliver them. In order to use personal data, the University must comply with all relevant UK data protection legislation. This means the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA).
The University’s Data Protection Policy gives an overview of how data protection applies to all University staff.
University staff can report a data loss incident via the staff intranet.
Any external individual who considers that the policy has not been followed in respect of their personal data should raise the matter with the University Data Protection Officer in the first instance.
If you have any immediate or urgent concerns please call (0)151 795 0523.
