Choosing and managing our agents
The University of Liverpool works with a carefully selected network of education agents who support prospective international students.
How we work with education agents
We are committed to the principles of the UK Agent Quality Framework. This means we aim to ensure that all students receive accurate information, transparent guidance, and ethical support when applying to study with us through an agent.
Our approach to working with agents is designed to protect your interests, support informed decision-making, and maintain our high standards of service.
Why this matters to you
When you choose to work with one of our approved agents, you can expect:
- Honest, accurate and unbiased information about the University and its programmes
- Support from agents who are trained and monitored by the University
- Clear communication about services, processes, and any associated costs
- The freedom to ask questions and make your own decisions without pressure.
You should feel confident that the advice you receive supports your individual goals and best interests. Students are not required to use an agent and you can choose to apply to the University directly should you wish.
How we choose agents
We are selective in the agents we work with, to ensure that they meet our standards for quality and ethical practice.
When appointing agents, we look for partners who:
- Act with integrity, honesty, and professionalism
- Provide clear, accurate, and complete information to students
- Have experience of supporting students who are applying to UK Higher Education
- Understand the UK education system and application processes
- Can demonstrate a strong track record of supporting student success
- Hold appropriate licences and operate in line with local regulations
- Maintain suitable and professional facilities for advising students and their families.
We expect agents to complete relevant training, such as programmes delivered by the British Council.
How we manage and support our agents
We work closely with our agents to ensure that they continue to meet our standards.
This includes:
- Providing regular training on our courses, entry requirements, fees, and scholarships
- Sharing updates on policies and application processes
- Offering ongoing support from our International Recruitment and Admissions teams
- Monitoring performance and student feedback.
We carefully manage the number of agents we work with in each country, so that we can maintain effective oversight and provide high quality support.
Transparency and commission
The University pays commission to approved agents for supporting students who successfully enrol with us.
This means that agents may receive payment from the University for their services. Many agents work with multiple universities and may receive commission from them, too.
You should be aware of this when making your decisions and ensure that you are comfortable with the advice you receive. Agents are expected to act in your best interests and be transparent about any fees or payments.
Complaints procedure
The University of Liverpool works only with approved education agents and expects high standards of service at all times.
If you are unhappy with the advice or service provided by an agent, you can raise a complaint with us. This may include concerns about inaccurate or misleading information, pressure to choose a particular course or university, or unprofessional/inappropriate behaviour.
We take all complaints seriously and will review the information provided. Raising a concern will not affect your application.
