If you've got good high school grades, but don't meet our entry requirements, a Foundation Certificate can help prepare you for undergraduate study at the University of Liverpool.
Our Foundation Certificates are one-year programmes. Successfully completing a Foundation Certificate to the required level will secure your place on your chosen University of Liverpool undergraduate degree.
Being taught on campus at UoLIC, in partnership with Kaplan International Pathways, you'll have access to the University's full range of facilities.
Courses
UoLIC offers two Foundation Certificates which you can tailor to your chosen progression route. Start dates are available throughout the year.
- Foundation Certificate in Business, Law and Social Sciences
- Foundation Certificate in Science and Engineering
You can use the Kaplan International Pathways website to see which of our undergraduate degrees are available as progression routes and which Foundation Certificate you'll need to complete to progress to your chosen degree.

What you'll study
A Foundation Certificate at UoLIC provides an excellent introduction to studying your chosen subject in the UK.
Alongside subject-specific classes, you'll receive coaching in essential study skills, such as essay writing and making presentations. You'll also develop your English language skills, including academic English.
You'll be taught in small groups, with a minimum of around 20 hours a week spent in the classroom. One-to-one support will be provided by a Learning Support Tutor.
Progressing to your chosen undergraduate degree
Successful completion of a UoLIC Foundation Certificate, to the required level and with good attendance, will guarantee your place on your chosen undergraduate degree. The level you'll need to meet to progress to your chosen degree will be noted on your offer letter.
Scholarships
If you're a high achieving student who progresses from a UoLIC Foundation Certificate to an undergraduate degree with us, you could be eligible to receive a tuition fee discount through one of our dedicated scholarships.
You'll be automatically allocated our University of Liverpool International College Excellence Scholarship and University of Liverpool International College First Class Scholarship if you're eligible.
