The Challenge
At a time of ecological and mental health crisis, Literature & Science Hub researchers are using their literary, historical and theoretical research into ecology, sustainability, place and the affective power of literature to develop public, artistic and institutional attitudes to nature.
Research Action
Their collaborative work – with artists, theatres, schools, galleries, scientists, and healthcare professionals – is changing artistic, educational and healthcare practice, inspiring scientists’ creativity, enhancing environmental education through creative writing and historical perspectives, and transforming perceptions and practices by bringing together nature writing and healthcare.
Working in Partnership
External partners include Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Mersey Care NHS Trust/Life Rooms, the Everyman and Playhouse Theatres, Shrinking Space/ METAL, FACT, and Tate Liverpool.
Outputs and Outcomes
Outcomes resulting from the Hub’s research include theatrical and musical performances, international writing competitions, educational resources, creative workshops for children and adults, exhibitions, and staff-development programmes for healthcare professionals.
