How to apply
Find out how to apply for a Pre-sessional English course as a self-funded or sponsored student.
Before you apply
Before applying for a Pre-sessional English course you must:
- apply for an undergraduate, postgraduate or PhD programme
- hold an offer from the University of Liverpool or another UK university.
Most students continue their studies at the University of Liverpool.
If you plan to study at another university, you should check that they accept the University of Liverpool Pre-sessional English certificate.
Your course transcript and report can be used as evidence of your English language level.
If your future university does not accept Pre-sessional English results, you may need to take IELTS.
Self-funded applicants
If you are a self-funded applicant:
- a £1,000 deposit is required
- the deposit forms part of your course fee.
Do not make this payment until you receive your course offer.
See the Payment Policy for self-funded students for full details.
Sponsored applicants
If you are sponsored, you must submit:
- official sponsorship letters
- confirmation that your fees will be paid.
Without these documents, your application will be treated as self-funded.
See the Payment Policy for sponsored students for more information.
Combined CAS
Some students may be eligible for a Combined Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
This allows you to apply for one visa covering both your Pre-sessional course and your academic programme.
See the Combined CAS process page for full details.
